Accreditation Renewal with Land Trust Alliance
For over three decades, Western
Rivers Conservancy has been working to protect the great rivers of the
West by acquiring outstanding riverlands and placing them in the hands
of long-term conservation stewards. WRC has established the highest
standards and practices in the industry and serves as a model for land
trusts across the West.
The Land Trust Alliance has
established the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, which accredits
those organizations that meet its national standards for protecting
important natural places and working lands forever. In February 2016,
WRC became a LTA accredited organization in order to support LTA’s work
to enhance the quality and permanence of conservation land acquisition
and LTA’s efforts to guide land trusts large and small in the business
of conservation. This year we are applying to renew our LTA
accreditation for another 5-year term.
As a long-established practice, WRC monitors its projects to ensure
our river conservation work is effective, meaningful and long lasting. A
public comment period is now open, and we invite you to comment on how
well we are implementing the standards used by the commission so that
your knowledge of WRC’s work informs our application for renewal. (
