#TheRiverAndMe Instagram Photo Challenge
Summer is here, which means more time outside with friends and family, more campfires and, most importantly, more time on the river. With this in mind, WRC and our friends at Fishpond want you to show us what rivers mean to you by participating in our #TheRiverAndMe photo challenge.
Rivers mean different things to all of us, and we want to know what they mean to you, personally. We know rivers are worth protecting because they are crucial to fish and wildlife and because they are critical to the health of our planet. But they’re also worth protecting for the simple reason that they are rivers—those living, flowing, beautiful stretches of moving water that bring us immense joy whether as anglers, boaters, hikers, bird watchers or whatever.
What to post:
Fishpond and WRC are looking for photos that really hit it home—images that make us stop, think and say, “Yep, that’s why rivers are worth protecting.” We’re looking for images that capture the soul of the river experience and show us why you take the time to make your way their banks when you could be doing something else.
It can be about friends, or a quiet evening. Bombing down a rapid. Wildlife. Art. Fishing. There are no limits.
Here’s how you participate:
• Between July 7th and July 25th, 2016, upload a river photo that captures what the river means to you.
• Tag @westernriversconservancy and @fishpondusa in the caption area and use the hashtag #TheRiverAndMe
• If you want to explain what it means to you in the caption, great. If not, don’t sweat it. Usually, as they say, a photo is worth a thousand words…
• That’s it!
Fishpond and WRC will chose our favorite three images and award the following prizes:
Grand Prize | |
First Place | |
Second Place |
WRC and fishpond staffers will review all the entries and choose our favorites. We will announce the winners on Tuesday, July 26th on our blog and on Instagram.
Rules:
There are a few easy-to-follow rules:
Photos must be posted to Instagram between the contest dates of July 7th, 2016 and July 25th, 2016. Images that are posted before or after the contest dates will not be considered. It is OK to use a photo that was taken before the contest, so long as you post it to your feed within the contest timeframe.
You will be considered a participant in the contest when you tag Western Rivers Conservancy and Fishpond and use the hashtag #TheRiverAndMe. By participating in the contest you agree to allow Western Rivers Conservancy and Fishpond to repost your photos. We promise to credit you for the photo in our post if we do this.
Contest winners must claim their prize within 30 days of our announcement of the winners. Anyone not claiming their prize within that time forfeits their win. The prize will then be awarded to the next runner up.
No purchase is necessary, and purchasing does not enhance your chance of winning. The photos you submit must be your own, original work. You grant WRC permission to use your name in connection with the photograph, and you certify that all persons appearing in the image grant WRC permission to publish the photo. By submitting your photo, you release Instagram and acknowledge that this promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram. Finally, permission to publish images of children must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian.
