Brian Smith

Brian David Smith joined Western Rivers Conservancy in April 2022 as a Communications Specialist. Before coming to WRC, he honed his craft as a senior designer for AHA Strategy and Creative Agency. Originally from Alabama, Brian earned degrees in Art and Mass Communications from the University of Montevallo. In 2008, he moved west to work on a farm in British Columbia where he spent the summer braiding garlic and swimming in glacial lakes. Settling in Portland soon after, he earned a MS in Writing and Book Publishing with an emphasis in book design from Portland State University. Brian enjoys capturing the sights and sounds of nature with his camera and Tascam recorder, traveling and experiencing new places, and hanging out with his partner, Aly, cat, Sadie, and dog, Buoy.
