You can protect the great rivers of the West for your loved ones and future generations by
making a legacy gift to Western Rivers Conservancy. We
encourage you to dedicate your legacy gift to the River Protection Fund, a revolving fund to protect riverlands forever. Here
are a few ways you can protect rivers forever with a legacy gift to WRC:
Gift
in a Will or Living Trust
Arrange a bequest in
your will or living trust to WRC to permanently protect the West’s finest
rivers and streams. You may allocate a
specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate.
Here is sample bequest
language you can provide to your financial advisor:
I (We) bequest (Specific dollar amount / XX Percentage of
residual estate / Specific non-cash asset) to Western Rivers Conservancy, a
501(c)3 organization based in Portland, Oregon, EIN# 93-1326405.
Optional: This
gift is restricted to WRC’s River Protection Fund.
Retirement Plan Designation
Designate WRC as a beneficiary of your
retirement plan to save rivers in perpetuity. This tax-wise gift is exempt from
federal estate tax, so it maximizes the benefit of your gift and minimizes your
taxes.
Charitable
Remainder Trust
Designate WRC as the
beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust, a tax-exempt trust that pays
income to your designee. When the trust terminates, the remaining assets will
be paid to WRC and used to protect rivers forever.
Charitable
Lead Trust
Create a charitable
lead trust that pays income to WRC for a set period of time to conserve rivers forever.
At the end of the term, the remainder is returned to you or your heirs- a
tax-smart way to pass assets to heirs.
